Site 4 - Lava tube
Located next to a small tumulus, this small lava tube is a 20 centimetres wide conduit serving as an outpouring path for the lava. The roof is formed by two thin ropy pahoehoe sheets of lava that broke in one place forming a skylight. Inside it, we can observe smooth rounded stalactites on the ceiling, a concave roof with fractures containing roots, and a flat floor with pahoehoe textures.
