I was already planning to do a bishie wallpaper before school opening so I have to choose between Tsunayoshi Sawada,Primo Vongola Toushirou Hitsugaya, Athrun Zala, or some bishie in Hakuouki Shinsengumi Kitan and Hiiro no Kakera. Whilethinking of who to wall, I picked up the PSP and played Crisis Core then it suddenly stike me! HOW CAN I FORGET FINALFANTASY VII (SEPHY, GENESIS AND OF COURSE CLOUD!). I looked for a scan of cloud, most of them have been walled and therest are fan arts. Screenshots are definitely low quality but then I stumbled upon this screenshot from zerochan.net clicky it's HD size but not HQ. soI thought I'd give it try. Process picture found below.

At first I was planning to go the easy way - no extracting, just brushing here and there and adjust lights but I'mnot at ease when I dont spend a long time doing walls. so I begin extracting the scan and reCGing it part by part.Firstly, I did cloud. reCG him and added more hair details. Then I went to the 2 buster swords. After that I went to theremaining BG and I say it is definitely a pain because I want to retain the texture/ the rusty feel of the BG but if Ido nothing about it then it will be pixelated. so I slowly painted it and then overlay it with texture ^^v then fadedsome parts of the flooring + blur them a bit. It's texturized okay...

I checked the whole wallpaper so far and I find cloud still to grainy so I went to vector this time then painted it alittle

I did the sky. At first it was kinda dull so I reworked on it to give it more light. Then I added some feathers andpoof! here it is.

Nice re-CG-ing, lol! I like your clouds/sky better than in the original scan and I must say the atmosphere looks betterand more realistic like this. The only thing that bugs me a bit are the feathers; they look kind of jagged and tooblurry in some places...

Like VisualDepth wrote, would be nice with a version without the feathers. I associate feathers more with FF8 than FF7.But still, the wallpaper is very impressive! Everything really blends together and I really like how you'veemphasised on Cloud. =) Keep up the good work! *thumbs up*

this is very nice wallpaper.. you make Cloud look really awesome and the cloud sky is very good too... My only complainwill be the big feather that cover the sword.. I think it will look better if the feather is not there...

Ohhh, looks pretty!

I like the whole atmosphere on this wallpaper, you certainly created a very special mood.

There are some things you should take in consideration, the feathers look very repetitive, and the one at the left sidelooks kinda enlarged when it should be more blurry since it's supposed to be a sort of close up. Maybe if you addeddifferent kind of feathers and in different shades it would look better, I think. 

The blurring trick would apply to the swords too, it would give the wall a sense of depth.

Other than that, I really love the CGing you did here, and kudos to you for trying out new styles 8)

Strike up the band! Fire the cannons! Attempt to twerk! Okay maybe not that last one, but whatever the appropriate celebratory action is, bust it out because our once very wallpapered house is officially wallpaper-less!

A bunch of corners in there were curled up from the effect of the shower steam over the years, so it took virtually zero effort (and apparently zero clothes) to get most of the shower free of wallpaper.

There were still lots of dimples and low points, so we also decided to fill things in with a coating of spackle. You can see that my coverage was super thin (I was scraping it nice and firmly against the wall) but it did the trick for filling in those slightly recessed peeled-looking spots.

Next up was primer. See how yellow the walls were on the left, compared to the fresher look of primer on that wall on the right? It was possibly my favorite priming project ever, since it evened out the spotty wall and made the whole room so much brighter.

In summary, the way that wallpaper is adhered along with how well your walls are prepped beforehand seems to have a lot to do with how easy (or how impossible) it is to remove the wallpaper. Nothing we tried was super fast and amazing, but most methods actually worked over the course of 8-ish hours if you kept at them. So hopefully taking those five techniques for a spin and outlining them as we went was somewhat helpful for others who are staring at a bunch of wallpapered walls and wondering what to try next.

Naked wall paper removal cracks me up! Congrats on getting that all done. And yes, lots of painting going on around here, starting with painting our wall to wall paneling in the basement (before starting I totally looked back at your post for how you did that in your first house!).

I am to the point with some wallpaper in a room in my house that I would seriously consider paying you guys to come finish it for me. the paper ripped away from the underside, and that dang underside WILL NOT COME OFF.

Hooray for no more wallpaper!! I used the fabric softener and water combo to remove wall paper at our house recently and it worked really well for us. Our wallpaper had been painted over, so we had to score the top layer and soak it and then give the under layer a second soak.

This wallpaper job was very much like my dining room, tough no matter what you did but the steamer and softener action worked out best. And yet in the kitchen we knocked out an entire wall and the top part of another in 3 hours. Total crapshoot I guess, but so satisfying to have it done. Our walls were as bad as yours so I totally agree it was poor wallpaper adhesion. These days our lives seem like an endless circle of de-wallpapering, spackling, sanding, priming and painting and our kitchen is a total disaster zone but whenever I get flustered I look at the completed dining room and and that gives me the motivation to keep going. 152ee80cbc
