Reflection of our Globe

For an exhibition of floating works of art in Wijchen, the theme chosen was Freedom to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the liberation. Antoon Versteegde invented a semicircular construction of bamboo sticks, which, by the reflection of the water, produced the image of a complete sphere. The artwork was transparent and looked fragile, just like our planet. But is it also possible to travel to the other side in freedom?

Weerspiegeling van onze wereldbol

Voor een tentoonstelling van drijvende kunstwerken in Wijchen werd als thema gekozen voor Vrijheid om de 75 jarige bevrijding te vieren. Antoon Versteegde bedacht een halfronde constructie van bamboestokken, die door de weerspiegeling van het water het beeld van een complete bol opleverde. Het kunstwerk was transparant en zag er kwetsbaar uit, net als onze planeet. Maar is het ook mogelijk om in vrijheid te reizen naar de andere zijde?
