Chassépark Project

For the opening of the Chassé Park, Antoon Versteegde was approached to build an installation on the new square together with local residents. The problem was the wind that has free play here and the tiled floor in which nothing could be anchored because it was the roof of the parking garage. Antoon invented to use the bamboo sticks upside down, with the thin ends at the bottom. By using heavy water bags, the bamboo constructions were pressed to the ground like the legs of crane spiders.

Voor de opening van het Chassé Park werd Antoon Versteegde benaderd om samen met omwonenden een installatie te bouwen op het nieuwe plein. Probleem was de wind die hier vrij spel heeft en de betegelde vloer waarin niets verankerd mocht worden omdat het het dak was van de parkeergarage. Antoon bedacht om de bamboestokken ondersteboven te gebruiken, met de dunne uiteinden onderaan. Door gebruik te maken van zware waterzakken werden de bamboe constructies tegen de grond geperst als de poten van langpoot spinnen.
