Flags on Hanging Gardens

The installation that Antoon Versteegde made in 1992 for the large textile biennale in Lausanne consisted of 200 flags. Due to the early spring, no live plants could be used there, but fake ivy was used. In 1993 the installation was split in two: one half in Zundert, the center of tree nurseries, the other half in the Hortus Botanicus in Haren. In both situations, bean plants were used that wound and weaved their way up to reach the flags.

Vlaggen op Hangende Tuinen

De installatie die Antoon Versteegde in 1992 maakte voor de grote textielbiënnale in Lausanne bestond uit 200 vlaggen. Vanwege het vroege voorjaar kon daar helaas geen gebruik worden gemaakt van levende planten maar werd nep klimop gebruikt. In 1993 werd de installatie in tweeën gesplitst: de ene helft in Zundert, centrum van boomkwekerijen, de andere helft in de Hortus Botanicus in Haren. In beide situaties werden bonen planten gebruikt die slingerend en wevend een weg naar boven klommen, om de vlaggen te bereiken.
