My clinical hours for my semesters while in the Family Nurse Practitioner program at UMMC have been great learning experiences. During this time, I have acquired and implement excellent knowledge and skills to utilize as an FNP. I have encountered and cared for patients of many demographics, ages and health issues and I feel confident with providing safe and effective care to my future patients. Also, I have been able to learn how to better assist patients that need guidance to resources for funding for their healthcare.
I have gained a wealth of knowledge and clinical experience during my first year as a Board Certified Nurse Practitioner. I have provided care for a diagnosed patients appropriately and provided optimal care to each of my patients.
I feel that I am confident with my knowledge of how to provide safe and proper care for women, pediatric, and primary care patients. With my preceptor's observations, I have correctly diagnosed and chosen proper treatment plans for many patients during my clinical hours. Also, I have learned about appropriate resources to use if I am unsure about my diagnosis and treatment plan. During this semester, I have formed therapeutic relationships with some of my patients and have enjoyed getting to know each of them.
I have thoroughly enjoyed learning from my previous preceptors and my current colleagues. I feel like I have formed a professional friendship with each of them and I know I can use each of my previous preceptors as a resource in my future role. In 5 years, my goal is to have established a good patient census that trusts me with their health care needs, establish great professional relationships with my patients, and have great professional friendships with my work colleagues.
Thank you for taking the time to review my portfolio and for your consideration,
