I have been active in implementing new policy changes within Meridian Weight Management Clinic.
I have assisted with updating policies within my department. Also, I participated in the development of hospital plans and policies for the initiation of Baby-Friendly.
In the future, I plan on embarking on a more involved role with health care policies in Mississippi and being an advocate for Advanced Practice Nurses for the state.
I plan on becoming an active participant in ensuring Mississippians have access to safe, affordable healthcare and needed medications in a timely manner.
I am an active member of The American Academy of Neonatal Nurses and The American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
I along with 4 other colleagues developed a Systematic Review of Long-Term Dual Antiplatelet Therapy affects Post-Percutaneous Coronary Interventions in Research Designs and Methods for Advanced Nursing Practice course in fall of 2019. My primary leadership role for this systematic review was designer of the research poster that presented our research in a more concise manner.
As a RN in the NICU, I assist with finding ways to provide optimal patient care within my department while still being cost-effective.
Also, I have acted as a mentor/preceptor to new nurses. Following hospital policies and nursing guidelines, I teach new nurses to care for patients, understand how to properly use equipment, and offer encouragement and guidance when needed.
As my role as a Family Nurse Practitioner, I implement evidence-based research to provide optimal care for my patients. I utilize many online resources to provide better care for patients, such as Up-to-Date, American Diabetic Association resources for the care of diabetic patients, and Epocrates for the most current diagnostic and treatment information. I currently use these resources to provide safer and more innovative medication choices to patients and stay up to date on current medication prices and how this could affect my patient's care. My goal is to feel more confident with my skills and be able to provide knowledge for other advanced care providers or nurse practitioner students.
