Eat Like a Farmer and Farm Camper - We eat what we want, picked minutes, at most hours, before we eat it. Campers cruise the gardens in the morning, decide what looks ripe and delicious, plan lunch, harvest at 11, prep, and share lunch together at noon. Its a gift to do this for them.
Can we share a little of this lifestyle with you? For this to be possible, we need to be tiny, and members encouraged to take plants for their own homes if possible, to come pick what they want, when they want it, from the farmstand or garden; to send requests so we can custom pick for you, and sometimes we can even deliver. This is not pragmatic; it is not efficient; but it is the best way for me to get you the tastiest, most nutritious food and we're up for the challenge if you are interested.
How to market this? Hmm...
"Consider joining the weirdest CSA ever"
"Join us if you want a CSA but don't want too much and tend to feel guilty about produce rotting in the veggie drawer."
Seriously, here are some things that might make a Brook Meadow Farm Share a good fit for you:
You want great plants for your own garden or containers, like tomatoes, peppers, basil, and flowers - but there's some things you don't have room for so you want some farm products and you shop at the store.
You sometimes fantasize about having a greenhouse/garden/farm/land of your own. We'll "SHARE" the greenhouse, garden, pasture. Just being here, among plants, is a gift. As a member you can influence later season crop mix, varieties, discuss grazing animals, and get some help growing some of your own plants here - maybe even get a lamb or cow share, if you're interested.
Are you an early bird, and wish you could come watch the light slant through the greenhouse or come walk along the brook and listen to the birds? Do you want to take a sunset walk around the pasture? We're happy to share the gifts of this place, as you share in the expenses with your membership.
Do you have a tiny fridge in your studio apartment, and want little bits of fresh stuff every day and eggs by the half dozen?
Do you have limited space for gadgets, but wish you had access to a pasta maker so you can make our eggs into egg noodles? Or two ice cream makers you could borrow for your son's birthday party to make ice cream? We have a mini tool bank for preparing farm foods.
Do you want to connect to the land as source of food, fiber, flowers and fun year-round? Do you want this for your family, or want to give this gift to a family you know? We do too! Our CSA dream is to spread the joy of growing, eating locally, and the seasonal cycle of farm life.
Do you want to build community connections here at the farm? Would you enjoy any of these: seeing familiar faces as you make your own bouquet, tastings, attending informal gatherings around the fire, a farm potluck, workshops, off-season doggy playdates in the pasture, snowshoeing or tracking, a trail-building or planting party,...
Our mission is to promote a more just, joyful and sustainable community, by growing great plants, food ,and flowers and helping people connect to each other and to the sun, soil, air and water as the source of our food and much pleasure.
Become a member of Brook Meadow Farm, and you will get year-round organic eggs, your share of organically grown plants to grow your own garden, great flowers cut well, and veggies picked at their peak of nutrition. We'll help you freeze summer goodness for the winter, too, and welcome you to enjoy the land throughout the seasons.
