About the Conference

We are proud to host the second International Conference for 2023 VerityCon2023 with an amazing lineup of speakers and topics.

The VerityCon2023, the largest conference on freedom of expression in the Western Balkans, will be held on 14-16 November 2023 in Tirana under the auspices of the Western Balkans Fund, titled “VerityCon2023: Navigating the Disinformation Era.”

This year, the WBF with this conference aims to provide a platform for open discussion among a diverse group of stakeholders, with an emphasis on fostering the right to freely express ideas in relation to combating false information, misleading content, and deliberate falsehoods, including impacts from external sources. The VerityCon 2023 will try to address all these pressing issues and encourage open and honest discussion, brave and lucid ideas, and innovative and out-of-the-box solutions. The VerityCon2023 is dedicated to cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan and the International Visegrad Fund.

During panel discussions, the VerityCon will gather over 20 panelists from all over Western Balkan region, Europe, and Japan. Among the topics that will be discussed during the three-day conference are different scenarios in combating fake news and disinformation and other potential sources of instability in the region and more.
