Thanks so much for Ms. Chau Sa for calling and including me in the festivities! The meeting with the consulate looked so much fun and everyone looked so happy to receive their certificates.
Students can now find their final comments from their pitch decks on Padlet as well. If you don't see your comments, it means I never received your pitch deck, but you can still send it directly to me for feedback.
We made it to the last day of class! It's bittersweet because I will miss such hard-working and dedicated students. Congratulations on a job well done!
No class today due to the conference. Congratulations to the many YBA-Da Nang members who won so many awards!
Thank you for all your Christmas wishes yesterday! I had a wonderful Christmas in St. Tropez with my family. Today, we completed two pitch presentations and they will be uploaded to Padlet in the following week for you to watch.
Reminder: There is a end of the year conference and party on December 29th so there is no Zoom class on Thursday.
Final project guidelines. Choose either Option A OR Option B.
Option A
Complete the written tasks (highlighted in yellow) from the following worksheets:
Download the worksheets so you can write on the documents. Then, send me the links or attachments to your worksheets on Zalo. Due by the last day of class: Thursday, December 29 before midnight.
Option B:
Give an oral presentation where you "pitch" your product or service to a potential investor. Your pitch should not be more than 5 minutes.
Your presentation time will be on Monday, December 26th during class time. If you miss this date, there will be one makeup day on Monday, January 2.
The last worksheet in the final module has to do with creating a visual presentation with your pitch, often called a pitch deck (Module 4C).
There is no class on Thursday, December 15th as there is an AmCham event. Enjoy and don't forget to practice your networking skills in English!
We finished Module 4A: Intro to Pitching and will start on how to incorporate storytelling into Pitching (Module 4B).
Remember when working with Google docs to download the file as a Word or PDF so you can write on it. You can also make a copy and rename the document by adding your name if you have a Google account.
We start our final module today, giving a business pitch to potential investors. All the module worksheets, videos, and readings can be found on the following Padlet.
Reminder: There is no class on Thursday, December 8.
Students had a chance to practice their meeting and also present their business meeting from start to finish. Great job for those in attendance! You can watch their video under the Practice meeting column on Padlet.
Today we watched a sample video and talked more about the upcoming meeting assessment to conclude our Business meeting module. View the Practice Meeting column on Padlet if you were absent to prepare for your quiz on Thursday.
We only had one special student today, Mr. Minh. Even though we couldn't continue with the module, we did have a wonderful conversation and learned that Mr. Minh is a true "renaissance man"!
Continuing with our third module, we looked at language and responses from different situations in business meetings. Look at Task 2 on the Google docs worksheet. Feedback on your midterms are also now available on Padlet.
Due to the many events and commitments students have tonight, Mr. Binh has helpfully requested we cancel the class and reschedule it for a later date. To prepare for next week's business meetings please read watch the videos and read the articles on the Module 3B Business Meeting Language Padlet.
We continued with our module on business meetings and focused on different expressions used for specific situations such as disagreement, starting a meeting, inviting others to speak, etc. You can download the module worksheet from Google Docs.
What are the different roles in business meetings? We focused on expressions specific to different roles such as the chairperson, secretary, and time-keeper. Download the module worksheet from Google Docs and watch the videos on the Module 3A Padlet: Intro to Business Meetings.

YBA-Da Nang hosted a wonderful event last Friday, October 7 at Furama Resort. Teachers Jill King and Chau Sa was able to meet many of the students and network with other YBA members. As I am in France, I was very sad I was unable to attend what looked like a very fun evening.
Jill will be out of town the coming Wednesday, so the face to face session will be on Saturday, @2PM at the Books Garden Cafe.
We are now working on the Market Research module. Download and read this handout to help you describe your products and/or services. You can also visit the Market Research Padlet if you missed Monday's session.
