Mission Statement
The Westchester-Emerson ACCT MISSION is to produce high school graduates with the skills necessary to enter the world of work, the ability to succeed in higher education settings, and the drive to be contributing members of society.
Upon graduation, Westchester-Emerson ACCT students will:
Fulfill High School Requirements: Students will demonstrate academic competency and meet all standards for completing the high school diploma in the Los Angeles Unified School District. Students will have passed the High School Equivalency Exam and be ready and able to enter institutions of higher learning.
Be Employable: Students will have the skills needed to succeed in the world of work. They will be prepared to manage their time, meet deadlines, be reliable, follow directions, work collaboratively, and maintain a service-oriented attitude.
Be Independent Learners: Students will appreciate the value of learning and be goal- and solution-oriented. They will have the skills necessary to identify problems, determine and utilize appropriate resources (including human resources), make informed choices, and take action.
Be Effective Communicators: Students will be skilled in verbal and written communication. They can organize their thoughts toward a specific goal, convey their ideas to various audiences, and produce the desired results. They will effectively assert themselves in both interpersonal encounters and formal communication settings.
Be Responsible Citizens: Students will be empowered to make positive future choices. Students will understand that their actions today impact what is available tomorrow. They will be instrumental in creating, maintaining, and being a resource for healthy communities.
