The route travels along minor and very minor roads and lanes, uphill and downhill, through the Peak District's widely varying scenery. Passing through quiet villages, dales, woods and moorlands, the riding is gentle and slow. Thruxtons may object! It is a good test of brakes, clutches and gearboxes.
Navigation is challenging, but the group will be led by John Booth. Every rider should ensure the following rider is kept in sight.
If you decide to head for home early, please try and let John know you are leaving the group.
Please note, there are very few petrol stations en route!! Riders should fill up before starting. A Shell petrol station/garage is available at the start of the run by the Unicorn. A Tesco’s, selling cheaper fuel, is located about 3 miles north from the Unicorn, next to the A34.
Large sections of the route have no mobile signal.
As usual the event is subject to change depending on the weather forecast. Be sure to check this web site for last minute information of changes.
Safety
Some awkward junctions crossing fast 'A' roads, need great care and attention. Other hazards include mud, gravel, sheep, loose cows and some very sharp hairpin bends!
For those with 6v Miller lighting sets, "Lighting Up Time" is 7:25 pm. The Ride is expected to finish about 5:45pm
Please note that people taking part in the Centre's activities do so at their own risk and everyone is responsible for their own safety.
