About me
I'm a neuroscientist living and working in Argentina. I studied Biology at the Facultad de Ciencias Exactas y Naturales, Universidad de Buenos Aires, then I did a PhD in the same institution studying molecular mechanisms involved in the switch between reconsolidation and extinction of fear memory, under the supervision of Dr Romano. My first postdoctoral experience was exploring the reconsolidation process in the mouse brain using Positron Emission Tomography and chemogenetics, in a close collaboration between IFIBYNE-UBA-CONICET and FLENI institutions. Then I started a new project studying the role of the Lateral Habenula in contextual memory formation in rats, at the IFIBIO Houssay-UBA-CONICET institute (Dr Joaquín Piriz, Dr Mariano Belluscio). Unfortunately, that project was interrupted by the pandemics. When we were allowed to go back to the lab, I joined Mariano Soiza Reilly lab, leading my own research projects studying mechanisms of social memories´ formation. Now I lead my own group at IFIBYNE :)
I did different scientific stays in the USA: in Dr Kay Tye´s lab (MIT, sponsored by Fulbright), Lex Kravitz´s lab (NIH, sponsored by IBRO-USCRC), Dani Dumitriu (Mount Sinai Hospital, sponsored by BEC.AR-Fulbright), and Pozzo-Miller Lab (UAB).

Candela Medina
Candela did her PhD thesis under Dr Arturo Romano supervision and my co-supervision, at IFIBYNE-UBA-CONICET. Her project was on cellular and molecular mechanisms of fear associative memories.
PhD defense: 2020
Currently: post doc at Mariano Boccia´s Lab
Lautaro Montecino
Lautaro did his undergrad thesis under my supervision and the co-supervision of Dr Amaicha Depino, at IFIBYNE-UBA-CONICET. His project was on studing memory on a mouse model of autism.

Marina Luz Ingravidi
Marina, who studies biology at the Facultad de Ciencias Exactas y Naturales, Universidad de Buenos Aires, did a short scientific stay in Dr Piriz lab at IFIBIO-UBA-CONICET (2019-2020), and worked under my supervision. Marina participated in a project studying the role of the lateral habenula on contextual memories using rats.
Loved the drawings of rats and mice in this website? Some are Banksy's, and the others, anonymous street art :)
