The Vascular Cardiology, Research, and Technology (VCRT) Premedical Fellowship is an 8-week program designed for college-level pre-med students who want to gain valuable shadowing hours, learn about patient care, and deepen their knowledge of cardiology. Fellows also receive networking opportunities with doctors from various fields, prepare for medical school applications, and present their own research at the end.
Fellows are required to shadow for at least one shift per week, which is 4 hours long (typically 9 AM – 1 PM or 1 PM – 5 PM). This does not include days when the clinic is closed. Specific dates and schedules will be provided in advance, and while we can be flexible in certain cases, it is crucial that students adhere to this rule to gain as much clinical exposure as possible.
In addition to shadowing, fellows will follow a structured curriculum that includes worksheets, assignments, and a final project. The program concludes with an OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination), which is a hands-on practical exam focused on triaging patients. Successfully completing all components is necessary to pass the program.
