The Victoria Barracks Wine Cellar is the oldest in Australia having been constructed by British Convicts in 1842. The original building was Officer's quarters with the cellar housing wine for those living above.
Today the cellar is one of the largest private collections in Australia with approximately 3700 bottles of wine. The cellar is actively managed by an enthusiastic team on the Wine Committee and the wine itself is cellared at the correct ambient temperature, thus maintaining the life of the wine for years to come.
The cellar stock belongs to the Mess Membership of Victoria Barracks and is sold back to the Mess cohort twice a year at cost price plus 10% as part of the ANZAC and Remembrance Day Releases. Each release equates to roughly 10% of the total stock that Mess Members are able to bid for and purchase.
The cellar is used for various functions throughout the year and also provides a General Stock facility that enables Mess Members to buy wine at discounted prices twice per month. See Bookings if you wish to book the cellar for a function.
