Members are responsible for the dress standards of their guests and may be asked to leave where the appropriate standards are not met. The dress of members and their guests must be clean, neat and tidy.
All approved forms of uniform may be worn in the Mess.Â
The minimum standard of dress for gentlemen is tailored shorts, collared shirt and covered footware and for ladies is shorts or skirt and blouse (no requirement for covered footware for ladies).
Denim jeans (without holes, significant discolouration or fraying) are permitted be worn in the central courtyard and bar area only.
At formal functions for which uniform is the order of dress, personnel in civilian clothing are to be dressed in Black Tie or After 5s.
The Mess Committee may approve one-off exceptions to these rules, such as for functions where a "theme" necessitates a relaxation of dress standards or work parties.
Neat, clean sporting attire may be worn to breakfast if the member has PT programmed. Sportswear may be worn in the courtyard and bar following an organised fixture at the VBS ovals.
Personnel accommodated in the Mess are to be appropriately attired when in public areas. As a minimum, Live in Members and transit guests are to wear shorts, T-shirt (or robe) and footwear in the accommodation area. This includes transit to and from the live-in amenities.
