FAQ

When is your next trip?

We are aiming for a service trip during the winter break of 2021. We plan on leaving right after finals (usually Saturday or Sunday) to have the full two-week experience. Under the circumstances of Covid-19, we cannot predict when travel restrictions will ease or when it’s safe to travel. During the 2020-2021 academic year, our focus will be on community-building and raising funds to lower the cost of the trip.

What is the cost of a trip?

The cost varies based on the location of the service trip and the time of year in which we travel. Program fees cover lodging, food, and transportation to the clinics and ranges from $1,500-$2,000. Airfare is purchased separately (estimated $600-2,000 depending on the destination and group fare circumstances). Additionally, every intern is expected to raise $100 for medical supplies. We conduct fundraisers to raise money for the medical supply fee. Additional money raised may lower the cost of the trip.

What is the time commitment?

As an intern going on a service trip, you are expected to be available for a bi-weekly hour-long meetings. We will hold weekly hour-long meetings as we near the trip (starting Fall 2021). As an Executive Board member, you are expected to meet with the E-board for 1 hour/week and dedicate an additional hour to club duties every week. Team Leaders have a short meeting with VAW Global Coordinators every week.

How can I become a member?

We will focus on recruiting interns for the winter 2021 trip along with providing opportunities for you all to meet with us during virtual Q&A sessions (Thurs 10/29, 4:30-5:30pm | Fri 12/18, 2:30-3:30pm). Zoom link to Q&A sessions can be found in the 'Upcoming Events' page.

Winter 2020

Biweekly club meetings begin. Aside from recruiting, we will finalize the trip location in order to start language training for our host country. We will brainstorm ideas for group fundraising events (no in-person, only virtual for now) for the medical supply fee. Any additional money raised goes toward lowering the trip cost. We will be recruiting new executive board members.
