1 quart strawberries
1 cup sugar (divided)
2 cups total quick oats and/or flour
1/2 stick salted butter
Preheat oven 375 degrees.
Spray 8x8 or 9x9 dish with nonstick spray.
Wash, cap and quarter strawberries into dish (can use and berry/fruit or mix). You are quartering the fruit to make it bite size, so use your best judgement on quarters, haves or leave whole.
Sprinkle entire pan with sugar. Taste the fruit. You do need some sugar to get a syrup going, but if the berries are already sweet to taste, you can add less. More for under ripe or store bought.
Make a crumble topping. Now here you can go wild. You need 2 cups of topping, but it can be a mix of whatever you have on hand. Flour, quick oats, leftover muffins or biscuits that can be crumbled up and some sugar (again, to taste, more if using flour/oats, less if using sweet muffins). Top the fruit with this mix.
Dot the entire surface with little bits of butter. For this, its best to use really cold butter because is cuts better and you can get tiny pieces easier.Â
That's it. Oven should be about ready. Bake this thing for 30 mins. Serve warm with whipped cream and/or ice cream, Refrigerate leftovers (as if!).
