Vasuki (“the App”) is a snake husbandry and record-keeping application. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights. By using the App, you agree to this policy.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Account and profile information

Email address used for account creation and communication.
Any optional profile or account details you choose to provide.

1.2 Data you create in the App

Snake, clutch, venom, and related records (such as names, species, dates, and notes).
Logs for feeding, shedding, medication, cleaning, mating, quarantine, and similar husbandry activities.
Optional location information or coordinates only when you choose to use location-based features (for example, recording where an animal was acquired or using a scan feature). We do not collect location data in the background.

1.3 Photos and camera

Photos you take or select within the App (for example, for snakes, clutches, or venom records).
Photos are uploaded to our servers and stored in our cloud storage (Google Cloud Storage).
Camera access is used only when you actively use features that require it (such as scanning or adding photos).

1.4 Device and technical data

We do not use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.
We may receive limited technical information necessary to operate the App (such as device type or operating system version) through the platforms and services we use to deliver the App and notifications.
We do not access or collect microphone or audio data.

1.5 Push notifications

If you enable notifications, we use them to deliver reminders you configure (such as feeding or medication reminders).
Notification-related data is stored only for the purpose of delivering these reminders.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

Provide, operate, and maintain the App (including syncing records, photos, and reminders).
Manage your account and apply the correct feature access based on your account tier, where applicable.
Send reminders and notifications you have chosen to receive.
Respond to support requests, account deletion requests, or other inquiries.
Comply with legal obligations and protect our rights, users, and systems.

We do not sell your personal data.
We do not use your data for advertising or third-party marketing.

3. Where Your Data Is Stored

Databases: Account and record data are stored in databases we operate (for example, MongoDB).
Photos and files: Photos and uploaded files are stored in cloud storage (Google Cloud Storage).

Our services may be hosted in multiple regions. By using the App, you consent to the storage and processing of your data in locations necessary to provide the service.

4. Data Sharing and Third Parties

We do not sell or rent your personal information.

We may share data only:

With service providers that help us operate the App (such as hosting, storage, and notification delivery), under confidentiality and security obligations.
When required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security.
With your consent.

We do not use third-party analytics or advertising services in the App.

5. Subscriptions and Account Tiers

Vasuki may offer different account tiers or plans.
Changes to tiers or upgrades are handled outside the App. The App uses your account status to determine which features are available to you.

Any payments or billing are handled through external channels and are subject to separate terms agreed to outside the App.

Access and correction

Deletion

You may request deletion of your account and associated data.

Location

Location data is optional. You can choose not to use location-based features; we will not collect location data unless you actively use those features.

EU/UK (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have rights including access, correction, erasure, restriction, data portability, objection, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Contact us to exercise these rights.

Other regions

We aim to honor similar privacy rights where applicable (including requests similar to those under the CCPA and other laws).

7. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account remains active.
After you request account deletion, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate operational purposes.

We use reasonable and industry-standard safeguards (such as encryption, access controls, and secure storage) to protect your information. No system is completely secure, and we encourage you to use a strong password and keep your login details private.

9. Children’s Privacy

The App is intended for users aged 13 and above.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
