As part of Longhorn Racing Electric, I had to create an IP67, UL-94 V0-rated, insulated enclosure (called the Fuse Box) that would contain several low-voltage and high-voltage electronic pieces that were critical to the car's tractive system, control, and telemetry. It is optimized for volume, strength, and functionality, hence why there is a heavy prevalence of frames and gussets all around the Fuse Box. The enclosure is sealed with an o-ring inside a dovetail groove. It also features a Vehicle Control Unit PCB that is attached to a removable lid, enabling it to be easily removed to reprogram. Once the lid is reinserted, the VCU, through an interference fit, plugs itself back into the wider electronic circuit. There are also grounding plates, which allow the Fuse Box and necessary components to discharge any charge, as well as custom-made busbars for the tractive system.
Feel free to contact me regarding more details of the Fuse Box enclosure.
