In anticipation of receiving an iPad for notetaking in college, I created my own iPad stand that can work with all types of mobile devices for viewing purposes. This stand is foldable, allowing it to be discretely carried in a backpack or bag. When unfolded, it has a viewing angle of 15 degrees from the vertical, allowing the device to stand nearly perpendicularly. This has been successfully tested to work with the iPhone 14/15 and 11-inch iPads (as these were readily available), although it should also work with all other iPhone and iPad models as well.
