Presentation Topic: Educating Occupational Therapy Students for Today’s Practice Realities: Practice Readiness Across Education and Fieldwork
Objective 1: Define core components of occupational therapy practice readiness including professional reasoning, communication, reflective practice, and adaptability, and distinguish these components from academic knowledge acquisition alone.
Objective 2: Analyze common gaps in student readiness observed during fieldwork and early practice and examine how misalignment in expectations among students, fieldwork educators, and academic programs contributes to these challenges
Objective 3: Implement at least one role-specific strategy to support the development of practice-ready occupational therapy and occupational therapy assistant students through intentional feedback, explicit reasoning, or structured reflection within academic or fieldwork settings.
