Concept Statement

I am developing a school and community center for Tipion Haiti. My response to the sun is creating covered seating spaces and two-foot overhang roofs. The wind on site is pulled through many windows and released through one-foot-wide openings towards the top of the wall. I focused on openness and safety by spacing the buildings to create a campus like environment and used retaining walls and trees to create barriers from the road. The trees also line my pathways to create a visual path entering the school, as well as using gravel to create an audible cue that one is approaching the school
