This page outlines a few important steps to take when installing and uninstalling the Vanilla Star Wars data pack.

The Vanilla Star Wars data pack can be added to a world in the Create New World screen by navigating to the More tab and pressing the Data Packs button, or by manually placing it in the .minecraft/saves/<world>/datapacks folder of an existing world.Â
The resource pack is placed in the global .minecraft/resourcepacks folder.
When first applying the data pack to an existing singleplayer world, the world must be closed and reopened in order for the data pack to function; simply using /reload will not work. Similarly, servers must be restarted when first installing the data pack. This step does not need to be repeated with subsequent reloads.

Prior to deleting the data pack from a world, use /function vsw:uninstall to uninstall it. This will delete any scoreboard objectives created by the data pack.
Ensure that no VSW entities exist in the world prior to uninstallation, as these will be left behind otherwise. Any items native to the data pack will also remain, but will no longer be functional.
It is a good idea to properly uninstall the data pack prior to updating to a newer version, as certain scoreboard objectives may be renamed or removed from version to version.
