Roughly three years ago, there was a revolution in Atlanta. The former Invictus Prince, Jeanette Huffington, was chased out of town after being accused of manipulating Belial's Brood and using them as a weapon in her schemes. With the help of a small group of multi-covenant Ancilae, The Carthians led a coup, forcing Jeanette and her Sheriff, a Nosferatu named Jonas, to flee to Savannah.
After that, the Carthians took control of the city, putting a council in place composed mainly of Carthians, but allowing Covenenants that had supported their coup to have members on the Council as well. Each year, the Carthians held elections for the First Among Equals on the Council to act as a tie breaker and executive. The first Council Executive was a Daeva named John Long, though he was replaced by vote after that first year.
On the council, the Ordo Dracul was represented by their Priscus, Theodore VonGarich, a well known Daeva elder. The Circle of the Crone was represented by The Gangrel Teresa, and the Lancea et Sanctum was represented by the Mekhet, Brother Alton, though the Sanctified were only granted a seat recently. The Invictus have no seat on the Council.
Shortly after the coup, a mission was arranged by several elders to infiltrate Belial's Brood. In the end, a small coterie managed to infiltrate the sixth Covenant and stop their plan for mass murder. In the end, an explosion at the top of a skyscraper in Downtown largely wiped out the Brood, and the violence was explained as a suicide bombing with no civilian casualties.
Finally, a spate of Kindred murders was traced to a cult leader who was exposed by a coterie of investigating Kindred. The cult leader managed to escape the city to an unknown location, taking with him a number of powerful artifacts, leaving many of the kindred in the city bitter for revenge. The cult leader has not resurfaced since he fled, and those who chased him retreated to lick their wounds.
The steamy Atlanta streets teem with unrest. The Carthians have maintained power, but some complain that their infighting has led to stagnation and an inability to enforce the Traditions effectively. Kindred whisper of a creeping lawlessness.
The Elders have retreated to their domains
The Ancilae plot among one another to gain influence and territory.
The newly embraced find themselves thrust into tense pre-chaos with little guidance and the vague expectations that they will be the willing pawns of elders. And maybe they will.
The kine remain unaware, at least for now.
The blood of Terminus beats with a growing rhythm.
