Value Education – Syllabus
(For 30 hrs. online certificate course for college students)
1. Introduction to value education.
2. Value Education – its definition & scope. A short introduction.
(It’s a requirement in life) (2nd chapter)
3. Man Vs. Animal. Discussion on various Human qualities. (5th chapter)
4. Various ways to become a good student. Five vows of students. (3rd chapter)
5. Character Building – process. (11th chapter)
6. Humanity/Humanness. – Ways to achieve it. (5th & 13th chapter)
7. Ideals – meaning and its requirement in life.
8. Education- its meaning, scope and need. (19th chapter)
9. Discipline and Time management (14th chapter)
10. Self-development (self- management/self-reliance)
11. Enlightened Citizenship meaning and way to achieve.
12. Love, Regards and Respects. Its Meaning and application. (9th chapter)
13. Neighbouring Environment and you. Its need, utility and Impact.
14. Concentration, Control, what to control in life? Why?
(Our senses/ Astanga Yoga etc.)
15. Goal setting in life (particularly for students) – its purpose steps to achieve.
16. Civility, Politeness, Etiquettes etc. – its requirement in life and ways to practice in life. (6th chapter)
17. Emotions, dreams and practicality.
18. Familial and Social Values. (18th chapter)
Assignments
· There will be 18 problem sets of the course corresponding to the total 18 topics/modules.
· The mode of assessment will be based on an MCQ-based test on each module.
· At the end of each class, the participants will be provided with an assignment and a feedback link. Keep in mind that due dates will not be extended.
· Completed sets must be submitted online the next morning before 9:00 AM.
· You will not be allowed to submit the assignments after the deadline and will get zero points for not submitting them on time.
· Therefore, a total of 18x10=180 marks will be allotted for the assignments.
Attendance
· A total attendance of a minimum of 25 hrs. (~80%) is mandatory for getting the certificate.
· Attendance will be counted in hours. We will monitor the time of your presence in the class.
Leaving the class in the middle will lead to a loss in attendance hours.
· A total of 10 marks will be allotted for attendance.
Minimum eligibility for getting a certificate
· A minimum of 50% marks in aggregate is mandatory to get the certificate; (i.e.) out of 180 marks, a minimum of 90 marks is required from the assignments.
· A total attendance of a minimum of 25 hrs. (~80%) is mandatory for getting the certificate.
· E-certificates will be E-mailed to the eligible participants by 12th Oct 2021.
