Vellore Institute of Technology creates a winning entry in the Cyber Hackathon 2022 conducted by Greater Chennai Police, TamilNadu, India
Cyber Hackathon 2022 was conducted by Greater Chennai Police (GCP) on 26/12/2022
29 teams have been selected from the 302 submissions for the final round of hacakthon held at Anna University, Chennai inclusive of 5 teams from VIT Chennai mentored for the past one month by SCOPE faculty members, Dr. K. Vallidevi, Dr. S. Geetha, Dr. R. Suganya & Dr. T. Subbulakshmi.

The team headed by Dr. Vallidevi K, Associate Professor, School of Computer Science and Engineering along with third year bachelor’s degree students, Kuralamuthan B (20BPS1082) and Shiva Gurunath (20BPS1028) with specialization in Cyber Physical Systems won the I prize in the finals.
They were awarded by Mr. Shankar Jiwal, Chennai Police Commissioner, Selvi. Kiran Shruthi, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ms. Nagajothi, Deputy Commissioner of Police & Dr. R. Velraj, VC, Anna Univ.

Cyber Hackathon winning team Dr. K. Vallidevi and Co, along with SCOPE Dean Dr. R. Ganesan and SCOPE Professor Dr. T. Subbulakshmi met Mr. Shankar Jiwal Commissioner, Greater Chennai Police. Discussion was initiated towards the various collaboration avenues with VIT Chennai such as organization of hackathons, training programs and product development opportunities.
Cyber Hackathon winning team Dr. K. Vallidevi and Co, met Ms. Kiran Shruthi, DCP, Cyber Crime and explained the funded project proposal for the possible funding opportunities from GCP
Dr. K. Vallidevi along with Dr. S. Geetha and Dr. Ganapathy met Chengalpattu SP, Dr. Pradeep, and explained the project "Patrol's Pal". They also discussed about establishing possible collaborations with Chengalpattu District Police through a Memorandum of Understanding. Further, a project proposal was submitted to GCP which was related to Vehicle tracking across toll booths. This team also met Mr. Bharath, DSP of Chengalpattu district who motivated them to do proactive alerting of Police personals rather than reactive ways of working with CCTV footages.
