During my time student teaching at Downers Grove Christian School, I planned and helped implement a Thanksgiving party for the students. We had four stations where the students made homemade popcorn and butter, cornbread, and apple sauce.
The fourth station at our Thanksgiving party involved a STEM Activity. Students used mini marshmallows and toothpicks to create a cage for their turkey so that they could not escape.
Candy Corn Bulletin Board Craft
The picture to the left depicts a bulletin board of a candy corn craft that my 2nd grade students made while I student taught. It also has a candy corn poem in the center which involves a biblical message for students to read and which we talked about as a class.
During the month of December, we had a "Month of Surprises!" bulletin board up for the students. Every day of school in December, students got to flip open a gingerbread man, revealing a fun activity the students got to do that day. Some surprises involved: putting up the class Christmas tree, getting Christmas stickers, singing Christmas songs, doing a Christmas craft or worksheet, or getting a fun treat!
