VALERIA LENTINI GILLI
Professor and researcher at the School of Economics, University of Costa Rica.
My areas of research are the economics of education, poverty, inequality, and labor markets. Within the economics of education, I am interested in inequality due to resource allocations, socioeconomic background, technological change (see this interview), and gender norms (see my TedEx).
I joined the University of Costa Rica in 2014 after working for more than 15 years in the private sector as a quantitative and qualitative market research regional director, for multiple projects in public and private organizations, NGOs, academia, and media throughout Latin America, the Caribbean, and the United States.
I have been the coordinator of the tertiary education chapter at the State of the Education think tank of Costa Rica, a researcher at the Institute of Research in Economic Science, and a consultant for international organizations such as J-PAL LAC, UNDP, UNICEF, UNHCR, and others.
I hold a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Zaragoza, in Spain; an MA in Development Economics from the University of Sussex in the UK; and a BA from the Universidad Nacional in Costa Rica.
