We are honored to welcome Valentine Torres, a dedicated educator, business leader, and community advocate, as our keynote speaker. A proud Puerto Rican professional with deep roots in both Gary, Indiana, and Puerto Rico, she brings over two decades of experience across corporate leadership, higher education, entrepreneurship, and public education.
Today she serves as Business Department Chair and Dual Credit Business Instructor at Hobart High School, where she helps students bridge the gap between the classroom and the real world. Beyond the classroom, Valentine owns Valutime Solutions, a consulting business helping individuals and small businesses grow, and serves as a board member and former president of the Hobart Educational Foundation.
A recipient of the Northwest Indiana Influential Women Up & Coming Educator Award, she is passionate about empowering the next generation to see the possibilities within themselves, embrace their stories, and understand that success does not follow a single path. Attendance is free. Seating is limited, so we encourage you to register early.

Cuenta con más de dos décadas de experiencia en liderazgo corporativo, educación superior, emprendimiento y educación pública. Actualmente se desempeña como Jefa del Departamento de Negocios y Profesora de Negocios de Créditos Universitarios (Dual Credit) en Hobart High School, donde ayuda a los

A Voice for Women in Leadership
Valentine Torres has found her calling at the intersection of education and empowerment. This fall, she's flipping the script on outdated narratives about ambition and leadership for women. She's taking her message to two major stages, starting with the Engaging NWI Businesswomen event on October 16, where she'll deliver 'Your Life Is Your Business.'
She explains, “My objective for this event is to have a meaningful conversation with women who have already grown in their careers and still want more. Because the truth is, we are not done. We are unstoppable. As women, we are wired for progress. I call it the biology of female behavior.”

The title of my piece is 'Everyone is a Mother.' I am a career mom as many women are. I juggle my career and motherhood simultaneously. During the day I am Ms. Torres, a Business Dual Credit Instructor at Hobart High School/Hobart University where I advise and teach high school students. After school hours I am Mom to Felix, 14, and Liliana, 11. My children are the center of my world and I am blessed to be their Mom and work hard on my commitment to help them become the best versions of themselves. I also serve as a stepmother to my bonus daughter Anahalia, who is 18 and I am thankful for the support I receive from my husband Aaron.
'Listen to your Mother' is important to me because it highlights that everyone is a mom at some degree or another. Motherhood is a blessing whenever we can play that role. Some of us are mothers to our biological children, while some are mothers to stepchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and even grandchildren.

Mental health clarity has been a focus of mine for many years now. It became a lifestyle focus of mine when I turned 40 in 2018. At that time I started my MBA and juggled being a Mom, Wife, Teacher, all while taking courses on a full-term schedule. In 2018 my maternal Grandmother passed away. This was a hard death to deal with because I had her in my life for so many years. During my childhood she lived with us, so our bond was very close. I learned since then the importance of aging naturally yet gracefully. I learned to focus on me and those close to me. This has resulted in so many life changing events for me, my kids, and my husband.
