Valentina Candiani
I am Assistant Professor (Ricercatore RTD-A) in the MIDA Group at the Department of Mathematics (DIMA), University of Genoa, Italy, currently working on two main projects.
Artificial Intelligence for analysis and prediction of solar flares and coronal mass ejections. The objectives consist in 1) the development of computational methods based on machine and deep learning for the prediction of solar flares using both descriptors extracted from HMI images and convolutional neural networks (MIDA), in collaboration with the Heliophysics Space Weather Center at Altec SpA.
Radiomics and Artificial Intelligence for stratification of meningioma patients. The objective consists in the design, construction and validation of pipelines for the quantitative analysis of biomedical images and the interpretation of oncological data, with purposes of stratification of meningioma patients and multiple myeloma outcome prediction (LISCOMPlab).
My research interests include:
inverse problems, with applications to medical imaging
linear and nonlinear reconstruction algorithms
machine learning techniques
finite element methods (FEM)
regularization and optimization
