Enjoying life and traveling the world.
In my free time I like learning new languages (although Finnish is quite tough!) and doing any kind of artistic sports, among which artistic gymnastics, artistic diving and synchronized swimming. I also enjoy skiing: downhill ski in the Alps, cross-country ski in Finland, and water ski in the Ligurian sea.
I am really passionate about traveling and getting to know different cultures: here is a sneak peek into my life!
After growing up in Italy, my home country, I moved to Helsinki in October 2017 to do my PhD, and I've loved it ever since. Just some random fun facts about Finland:
Happiest Country in the World from 2018 to 2023!
First European country to give women the right to vote.
It is estimated that there are 2 million saunas (Unesco Intangible Cultural Heritage!) in Finland, for a population of 5.3 million, here's your beginner’s guide.
There are some 187,888 lakes in Finland larger than 500 square metres.
Finnish language!

During my Phd, I had the great chance to spend four months in Auckland as a visiting researcher. Let me share some of the most amazing things I have learnt down there.
New Zealand’s name in Maori is Aotearoa, which means "land of the long white cloud".
First country to give women the vote in 1893.
Volcano country: Auckland sits on a large volcanic field of approximately 53 volcanoes (but it's alright...).
There are no snakes in New Zealand. None.
Kiwis are huge fans of bungee-jumping.
I was born and raised in Genova, a beautiful city in north-west Italy, capital of the region Liguria. Genova is also known as the city of:
Paganini, violinist, violist, guitarist and composer
jeans fabric (crazy right?)
Cristoforo Colombo (no, he was not Spanish...)
and much more. My top three hidden gems in Liguria:
Varigotti: San Lorenzo church, Torre Saracena and the blue sea
Ruta di Camogli, a perfect location to have a drink with a breathtaking panorama
Passo del Faiallo: a superb view and formidable motorbike tracks
