Our department hosts a 5 person full time paid staff, 3 seasonal firefighters, and 25 paid volunteers

Fire and Ambulance Chief:
Jess Tolman
Jess started as Jr Firefighter in 2001 and joined the Volunteer ranks at 18. In 2002 he became and EMT Basic and in 2006 became an Intermediate. Jess moved up through the ranks and in 2015 became the Fire Chief and 2020 became the Fire and EMS Chief.
Ambulance Supervisor:
Samantha Chamberlain
Sam joined Vale Fire and Ambulance in 2008 and quickly became an EMT Basic. In 2017 Sam became the part time EMT and in 2020 became the full time billing clerk and EMS supervisor.
Firefighter/ EMT
Wally Whitaker
Wally has been a volunteer firefighter with Vale Since 2008. Wally has served has an EMR and then moved into the EMT role in 2011. Wally has served as an EMT, driver, engineer and firefighter since he has joined us. Wally was hired in the fulltime position in January 2024.

Dave Stohler
Dave has been a volunteer Firefighter and EMT with Vale since 2013. Dave served in the army for six years and had one tour of duty in Iraq. Dave also is our EMT for the Brogan Quick response Unit. Dave joined us as a full time firefighter and EMT in 2023.

Skyler Hein
Skyler join Grayback Forestry in 2010 and then in 2016 joined Gem County Fire Department where he earned his Firefighter 1. In 2022 he joined New Plymouth and joined us as fulltime member in January of 2024. Skyler will be taking the EMT Basic class come September.
