Vale Fire & Ambulance is always accepting new applications for volunteers.
Our department hosts a 5-person full-time paid staff, 3 seasonal firefighters, and 25 paid volunteers.

Fire and Ambulance Chief:
Jess Tolman
Jess started as a Jr. Firefighter in 2001 and joined the Volunteer ranks at 18. In 2002, he became an EMT Basic, and in 2006 became an Intermediate. Jess moved up through the ranks and in 2015 became the Fire Chief, and in 2020 became the Fire and EMS Chief.
Ambulance Supervisor:
Samantha Chamberlain
Sam joined Vale Fire and Ambulance in 2008 and quickly became an EMT Basic. In 2017, Sam became a part-time EMT, and in 2020 became the full-time billing clerk and EMS supervisor.

Wally Whitaker
Wally has been a volunteer firefighter with Vale since 2008. Wally has served as an EMR and then moved into the EMT role in 2011. Wally has served as an EMT, driver, engineer and firefighter since joining us. Wally was hired in a full-time position in January 2024.

Dave Stohler
Dave has been a volunteer Firefighter and EMT with Vale since 2013. Dave served in the army for six years and had one tour of duty in Iraq. Dave is also our EMT for the Brogan Quick Response Unit. Dave joined us as a full-time firefighter and EMT in 2023.
