On March 11, over 180 Virginia education leaders will begin their journey as the 2019 cohort convenes in Richmond. Led by author and producer Ted Dintersmith, associate professor and educational leadership expert Scott McLeod, and Virginia State Superintendent James Lane, teams will unpack a vision for and identify opportunities surrounding the urgency for purposeful learning.
On March 12, teams will continue their planning in regional groups that are facilitated by coaches from Advanced Learning Partnerships. By day’s end, teams will have generated personalized plans aligned to the Innovation Playlist and the Profile of the Virginia Graduate.
Between April 1 and June 30, teams will engage in as many as three virtual seminars as well as one of three full-day design sessions faciitated by the ALP coach in their respective region. This experience will provide the opportunity to operationalize their plans to promote teacher interaction around the Innovation Playlist and alignment of common language using the Profile of the Virginia Graduate.
By June 30, each cohort I team will share their final impact plans. These plans will be publicly accessible, promoting collaboration between regional teams as well as celebrating the bold steps under active implementation across the Commonwealth.
Between August 1 and September 30, teams will participate in one of three full-day action-reflection sessions as well as one of three virtual seminars facilitated by the ALP coach in their region. These learning experiences will provide the opportunity to gather data around the impact of their specific ‘small steps to big change’ outlined on the Innovation Playlist and alignment of common language using the Profile of the Virginia Graduate.
By September 30, each cohort I team will share data and student artifacts that document the impact of their plans. These data presentations will be publicly accessible, promoting collaboration between regional teams as well as celebrating the bold steps under active implementation across the Commonwealth.
Between October 15 and November 30, teams will join one of three virtual seminars hosted by the ALP coach in their participating regions. These 75-minute seminars will provide district and school teams with the opportunity to learn about innovations across their region, share their own emerging plans, and build out their PLC network.
By November 30, each cohort team will share their scale-up plans for their respective innovation. These community-wide plans will be publicly accessible, promoting collaboration between regional teams as well as celebrating the bold steps under active implementation across the Commonwealth.
On December 13, Virginia education leaders who complete their journey as the 2019 cohort will convene in Richmond, joined by Ted Dintersmith, James Lane, and other Virginia leaders to celebrate success and reflect on the achievements of the year. ALP coaches and Scott will support the district and school teams as they lead round table presentations on their innovation plans and impact data, facilitating planning sessions that allow for artifact tuning and further strategic planning around supporting the 2020 cohort.
