The Physics of How They Work
SCI 206 | Fall 2022 | Final Project
For centuries, humanity has been pondering the age-old question of how to keep your food warm and your drinks cold.
Billions of people across time and space have suffered the terrible fate of opening their lunchboxes only to find the beautiful broccoli cheddar soup they packed in the morning turned into a lukewarm congealed blob of sadness. The collective productivity we've lost from this morale drop would've been enough for humanity to ascend to a utopian mega-civilization by now; but alas, even the brightest minds couldn't figure out how to protect our lunch from the elements.
That is until vacuum flasks were invented.
Vacuum flasks are incredibly good at maintaining the internal temperature - almost magically so - yet most people that use them don't stop to wonder how they can achieve such marvellous feats. This project aims to explain how a vacuum flask works in an easy-to-digest way.
