Brief description:

The course covers methods in econometrics for applied socio-economic research. The course is designed for a particular audience in mind – those who have basic knowledge and skills in social statistics and needs to learn Stata to conduct applied and empirical analyses; the course also covers advanced econometric methods.

Course objectives:

The aim of the course is to strengthen the capacity of selected lecturers and PhD students from TIIAME for econometric analysis in the context of economics and related social sciences.

Learning organization and Teaching methods to be used:

The course is divided into two sections: Introductory (Topics 1-6) and Focused-Advanced (Topics 7-13). Both sections include theoretical lectures and practical sessions using Stata. Each topic takes two weeks to accomplish. Course participants will be receiving study materials, including lecture presentation and dataset prior a session. They will be required to review do-files of each other and comment before receiving a do-file from the instructor. When necessary, the course will also cover mathematical foundations of modern econometrics – with relevant assignments (solving equations/formulas, multiple-choice questions, etc.).

Online platform to be used:

The Zoom session is suggested for the course as both instructors have licensed with the relevant online platform. On campus classes at WIUT / TIIAME are also possible.
