Officers

Dave Young

Co-President

Hello! I became an officer for TriBeta in 2021 to foster community in the Biology Department. My favorite memories with TriBeta are our annual pumpkin carving event in the Hitchcock atrium and quarterly study jams! In my free time, I love hiking (I'm at Mailbox Peak in the picture), playing tennis, and exploring new cafes! I look forward to connecting with you all!

Mira Roth

Co-President

Hello biology nerds! I am Mira, and I trace my earliest fascinations with biology to my early childhood where I went to school on a farm. Seeing and actively participating in end-to-end processes, like taking care of chickens, harvesting eggs, and cooking them into a meal geared me towards appreciating larger biological systems. I am excited to share this passion with others in the UW community through TriBeta outreach! Outside of school, you can catch me jamming on guitar (or some other instruments), programming, or paddle boarding.

Clarissa Sofian

Vice President of Tutoring

Hey, everyone! I'm Clarissa, and I'm a public health major at UW (but I'm definitely still a bio nerd!). For me, I've always loved biology because of how intricate it is: everything seamlessly slots into place like an incredibly complex but satisfying puzzle. That's why I'm thrilled to be a part of TriBeta, where I know there are others who share the same level of passion for biology as I do. Outside of school, I love cafe hopping with my friends – that's my favorite way to unwind!

Trevor Marquis

Vice President

I was born in Washington, and I love the outdoors, especially hiking, skiing, and swimming. I’m an eagle scout and passionate about environmental conservation. I’m also on the pre-med track aspiring to improve healthcare accessibility. In my free time I like to play spikeball, read, and watch movies with friends.

Christopher Lee

Vice President of Tutoring

Hi, I am a junior majoring in Neuroscience. In the past, I've volunteered at a summer camp for children with ASD/ADHD at the UW Autism Center/Seattle Children's. More recently, I volunteer at Swedish Hospital in the ECT unit and I teach STEM curriculums in a rural/tribal communities around Washington. I also love trying out new restaurants and playing badminton!

Sophia Pontenberg

Vice President

Hello! I am originally from Denver, Colorado and my parents joke that I learned how to paint before I learned to walk. I love investigating where science and art converge and you can often find me on campus with a notebook sketching. I have always been interested in finding out why things work the way that they do and science fuels this side of my curiosity, I like using art to make sense of things that science cannot perfectly explain. I am looking forward to getting to collaborate with you in whichever medium you’d prefer!
