What is SCA Fencing?
SCA fencing uses more historical swords than Olympic fencing, with most of SCA fencing being done with rapiers. In SCA fencing combatants may move in any direction that they would like, and fencers play out injuries, so if someone hits your arm, you lose the use of the arm, or if someone hits your leg you lose the use of the leg and fight from the ground. But if someone hits you in the head, then you are dead. In SCA fencing combatants may also carry secondary weapons or parrying devices, such as a dagger or a buckler. SCA fencing may be one in a 1 on 1 setting, or in a melee scenario (both seen in video below). If you have any questions about SCA fencing, feel free to stop by our office hours, email us, or contact an officer.
