Beacon Hill community members identified specific recommendations. Advocate for these changes to your city leaders today by completing this pre-populated email form.
We must work with city officials and policymakers to redress and account for the inequities they have historically ignored. These are the injustices that lead to insufficient, inaccessible, and unsafe transportation options for BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color), youth, elders, disabled, low-income, and working-class communities.
Decolonize: Advocate for resources, policies, and practices that promote freedom of movement
Dream: Accept that communities possess their own expertise for finding solutions, and help to disseminate that knowledge.
Dignify: For equitable engagement, city leaders and other policymakers should seek active participation of target populations at decision-making events and in spaces that are accessible. These opportunities should: (1) include youth; (2) pay youth for their contribution and time; (3) employ facilitators of color; (4) offer technology support.
Decriminalize: Support universal free fare, while eliminating fare enforcement and the disproportionate policing of people in BIPOC communities.
Decongest: Advocate for pleasant and utilitarian infrastructure that centers the wellbeing of individuals and families.
