Sathya Priya R, Muthumeenakshi K and Sakthivel Murugan Santhanam, received the Best Paper Award for a paper titled “Enhancing Underwater Image Classification with Object-GCN and Semantic Correlation on Custom Datasets”, in the International Conference on AI for the Oceans (ICAIO 2025), Organized by Marine Technology Society India Section and Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, during 16th April 2025.

Team KYOGRE have won the Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2022 Software Edition for a problem statement by ministry of Earth Sciences held at Chandigarh Engineering College with a prize worth 1 lakh Rupees, held during August 25-26, 2022.

Hybrid ROV Team Ms. Nivedhitha (UG-Student) and Mr. Karthick (UG- student) have won the IEEE R10 Undergraduate Student Video Competition on the titled "Remotely Operated Vehicle" with a prize worth 300USD, August 31, 2021.

Mary Cecilia S. (Research Scholar) received the Best Paper Award for a paper titled “Edge Aware Turbidity Restoration of Single Shallow Coastal Water Image” in 1st International Conference on Innovative Technology for Sustainable Development (ICITSD-2021), Organized by VIT Chennai and Centre for Cyber Physical Systems, January 27-29, 2021. 

Sukanthi Kannan Presented the paper titled," Binarization of Stone inscription images " at 6th National Conference on Information and Communication Technologies, NCICT 2020 , SSNCE and received Best Paper Award on 12th June 2020.

Mubeena Parveen  Presented the paper titled, " Performance Analysis of Ocean Wave Based Energy Harvesting System using Permanent Magnet Linear Generator " at 6th National Conference on Information and Communication Technologies, NCICT 2020, SSNCE and received Best Paper Award on 12th June 2020

K.Balaji  (Research scholar) received the  Best Oral Presenter award  for the paper titled, “ Analysis of Channel Losses for implementation of optical communication in underwater”, at National Conference on Challenges in Earth System Sciences for Global Sustainability (CESS-GS), organised by CORAL lab, IIT Kharagpur on 16th Jan 2020.

M.Vimalraj (Research scholar) received the Best Oral Presenter award for the paper titled, “Underwater Image Processing using Hyperparameter algorithms” at National Conference on Challenges in Earth System Sciences for Global Sustainability (CESS-GS), organised by CORAL lab, IIT Kharagpur on 16th Jan 2020.

S.Mary Cecilia  (Research scholar) received a Best Paper award  for a paper titled "Analysis of Various De-hazing algorithms for Underwater images" from Dr.D.D.Ebenezer, Scientish ‘H’ and Director (Systems), NPOL in the 2019 International Symposium on Ocean Technology (SYMPOL 2019) held at Department of Electronics, Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT), Cochin, India on 12th Dec 2019.

G.Annalakshmi (Research Scholar) has received the Best participant award in the "5 days workshop on hands on training program on technical writing and publishing with advanced computer tools" held at Indian Institute of Information Technology Design & Manufacturing (IIITDM), Kancheepuram on 29th May 2019.

Dr.S.Sakthivel Murugan received Cognizant's Best faculty award (in-overall college category) for the academic year 2018-19 from chief guest Mr. R.B.Ramesh, Indian Chess grandmaster along with Dr.P.Ramasamy, Dean Research (left); Mrs. Kala Vijayakumar, president of SSN Institutions (middle) and Dr. S. Salivahanan, Principal (right) on the occasion of 2019 Teachers' day.

Redington Foundation presented the Best Teacher Award to Dr.S.Sakthivel Murugan , SSN College of Engineering in appreciation of his exemplary contribution in promoting education.

Dr.S.Sakthivel Murugan  has received Best Poster Award  for a paper titled. “Design and Implementation of an Energy harvesting system using MFC with Marine sediments for underwater Applications” in 4th  International conference on Oceanography and Marine Biology (Oceanography 2016), held at Brisbane, Australia on 19th July 2016.

The board of management of the Venus International Foundation based upon the VIFFA 2015 Expert committe report awarded Dr.S.Sakthivel Murugan a Young Researcher award for the contribution and achievement in the field of Electronics Engineering.
