Specialized Units
SERT – Special Emergency Response Team
Our tactical arm, SERT is trained to respond to high-risk incidents including barricaded suspects, armed standoffs, and hostage situations. These officers are equipped with advanced tactics and specialized equipment to protect lives during critical operations.
Traffic Enforcement Section
This unit focuses on reducing fatalities and serious crashes through high-visibility enforcement and data-driven deployment. They target high-risk corridors and behaviors, including aggressive driving, speeding, impaired driving, and distracted driving.
State Investigation Bureau (SIB)
The investigative backbone of UHP, the SIB handles complex criminal investigations including narcotics trafficking, organized crime, human trafficking, and interagency operations. These highly trained agents collaborate with federal, state, and local partners to dismantle criminal networks across Utah.
Tactical Response
This unit provides rapid-response capabilities during civil disturbances, large-scale events, and natural disasters. Tactical Response Troopers are trained in crowd control, mobile field force tactics, and emergency coordination to ensure safety and order during high-stress events.
