Mexican American Studies program at UTSA sponsors a MAS Teachers' Academy annually during the summer months for secondary teachers to learn how to integrate the Mexican American experience for Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills in social studies,  meet the specific content area for Mexican American Studies as a special topics course, Mexican American History, Fine Arts, and Literature courses. 

Created by UTSA MAS faculty in 2015 as part of the statewide movement to bring MAS into our public schools, the MAS Teachers' Academy is a community-powered, teacher-scholar led effort that provides educators with foundational content and curricular support to teach MAS. 

This summer's 2023 academy will be hosted via zoom and will introduce teachers to Chicana/x/o Studies pedagogies and teaching/learning approaches that speak to MAS' commitment to student empowerment, transformational leadership, and community self-determination.

The MAS Teachers' Academy provides professional development hours/credits (CPE ).
