Welcome to the Cardiovascular Biomechanics Lab at the University of Tennessee
Our lab's mission is to improve clinical therapies and medical devices for cardiovascular disease utilizing our expertise in experimental and computational techniques. We seek to develop strong collaborations with clinicians and medical researchers to identify the problems they encounter on a daily basis. Our interdisciplinary research focuses on understanding the underlying biomechanics of cardiovascular diseases and their treatments, with primary interests in acute ischemic stroke (AIS), venous thrombosis, cardiopulmonary bypass, and congenital heart disease.
Our Research Areas Include:
Evaluation of surgical devices for treating cardiovascular disease
Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modeling of blood flow
Thrombosis and thrombolysis modeling
Vascular remodeling in congenital heart disease
Mock circulatory flow loop development
Biomaterial mechanical characterization
Hemocompatibility of blood contacting biomaterials
