Established in 1951 by a group of Ukrainian immigrants, the Ukrainian Catholic Church of St. Volodymyr the Great has brought together wide-ranging communities in Utica for over 70 years. Earlier this year, the church commemorated the 40th anniversary of its pastor, the Very Reverend Michael Bundz's ordination to the priesthood and hosted its yearly food festival in October. Every Thursday, parishioners and friends of the church gather to make delicious fresh pierogi that is sold on Friday mornings. The church stands as a testament to the tenacity and community spirit of Utica’s Eastern European immigrant population.
