Dr. Dharamsi is the Dean of the College of Health Sciences and Charles H. & Shirley T. LeavellEndowed Chair in Health Sciences at The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). He received his Ph.D. in 2003 from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada, where he went on to teach and earn tenure in the Faculty of Medicine. His research is primarily in the domain of public health with a focus on social accountability, ethics, global health, health inequities, and medical education. Immediately prior to joining UTEP, Dr. Dharamsi served as Founding Associate Dean of Social Accountability, Professionalism, and Community and Global Engagement for the School of Osteopathic Medicine at the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio. His work has been published widely and funded through prominent foundations and research agencies. He has extensive education, research and community development experience in Asia and Africa, as well as in Canada and the U.S.

In 2019, Sukhi began his EIR career with NEC X. As a seasoned entrepreneur with decades of career experience, he is a firm believer in pursuing what you’re passionate about. Sukhi consistently gives back to the community by providing mentorship to startup founders for sales and development, with the end goal of enabling rapid scale-up. He currently leads an NEC X technology startup project that tracks the indoor location of first responders for better command, control, and coordination to create safer outcomes.
