I'm new here! Can you tell me about UT Club Tennis Team?

Sure! University of Toledo Club Tennis is a 100% student ran co-ed traveling and recreational tennis team. Founded by Victor Watts in 2005, the UT Club Tennis Team is for everyone; From beginners to comprehensive competitive tennis players. Our goal is to provide as many students possible with the opportunity to play recreational & competitive collegiate tennis. (Team Information Packet)

Are club members required to pay $ in order to participate?

Yes. Members are required to pay $125 per semester. This money helps pay for equipment, court maintenance, travel expenses, tournament entry fees, hotel costs, indoor court time, jerseys and much more. Also note that the UT Club Tennis team leaders are always searching for ways to lower dues through fundraisers. These fundraisers may include teaching junior clinics, stadium clean-ups, spirit wear sales + more!

How do I join the UT Club Tennis Team?

What type of matches/competitions does the team participate in?

UT Club Tennis is a member if the Midwest Section of the USTA's Tennis on Campus. We play in a wide variety of tournaments and day matches around the Midwest. See our past match results here. Where and when are team practices held?

Team practices are always held at one of two possible locations:

Outdoor Practices:

University of Toledo Varsity Tennis Courts

Located Between Glass Bowl Football Stadium & Carlson Library. Car Parking in Lot #10

Approx. Time of Year: August - October, April - May

Approx. Cost Per Practice: Free Once Semesterly Dues Are Paid

Indoor Practices:

Do I need prior tennis experience to be on the UT Club Tennis Team?

No. Whether you're an experience tennis player or someone brand new to the game - the UT Club Tennis Team is for you. With us, new players will learn the basics of the game including swing motion, proper game scoring, volley technique, point construction/patterns, serving and much more. Our team leaders organize practices in a way such that players improve portions of their tennis repertoire while still hitting in a fun, enjoyable and relaxing atmosphere.

I represent another school's club tennis team. Would UT be interested in attending our tournament?

Absolutely! Although there are specific events we enjoy attending on an annual basis, UT Club Tennis does its best to participate in one new tournament per semester. Please email us at utoledotennisclub@gmail.com with your tournament's information - we'd love to check it out.
