For my Capstone Project, I am setting up a school wide reward system at Aguilar Elementary School in regards to their writing curriculum in each grade. My organization is an elementary school with the general goal of providing their students with a quality education and for their students to leave their facility more prepared for the next chapter in their life. Writing skills are such an essential element when moving on to high school and eventually college. I believe with my reward system, I can make a positive impact on this school’s writing programs and hopefully help better prepare the students for their academic futures.
Although I am based in Mr. Busch’s classroom where all of the fourth graders rotate into his class each day for their writing lessons, I plan to have my program reach the entire student population. This reward system will also be a continuing program throughout each quarter. My program involves 5 big jars for each of the grade levels and each week I will circulate throughout every classroom. I will have every teacher choose a Super Star Writer of the week (whether it be for an essay they did that week or something smaller like best grammar for younger grades). These Super Star Writers will receive a Peter Piper's Pizza Reward and will get to write their names on some fun colored paper and place it into their grade’s jar. At the end of each quarter, I will randomly select 2 or 3 names out of each grade's jar and the winners will get to bring a friend to go to our Super Star Writer's Pizza Party! This is where the student counsel comes in; I will need help fundraising the money to throw the party at the end of each semester.
