Just 10 kilometers from the city of Ushuaia, we find a natural treasure of immeasurable value. The snow-capped peaks of the last stretch of the Andes Mountain Range rise above the forested valleys, revealing their summits carved by the latest glaciations. Dozens of trails delve into this dense vegetation, leading travelers to the shores of the Beagle Channel and awe-inspiring freshwater lakes capable of taking the breath away from even the most experienced explorer.
The Yámana people, the native inhabitants of this region, knew the virtues of this area perfectly. They inhabited its coasts for millennia, obtaining everything they needed to live in perfect harmony with their surroundings from the land and sea. It may be difficult to imagine, but just a couple of hundred years ago, they were the only inhabitants of this area. Nowadays, the beauty of this majestic place is no longer a secret, which is why it has become one of Argentina's most visited national parks.
Exploring the park in the afternoon offers us the opportunity to make the most of the daylight, which extends until around 11 pm during the summer, and immerse ourselves in the tranquility of its nature, avoiding the hustle and bustle caused by large groups of tourists. We will learn about the history of the native cultures that inhabited the region and discover ancient archaeological sites that pinpoint the exact locations where these families lived. We will be able to sit in the exact same spot, admire the same landscape, and listen to the same sounds they heard for thousands of years.
As the sunset approaches, we will head to a cozy dome structure where we will enjoy a delicious dinner. There, we can relax and savor a menu specially designed with regional ingredients while we share the candlelit sunset and engage in warm conversation.
