Description: Dr. Jacob Black, PhD is a founding partner and CEO at TreeHouse Biosciences, a premier manufacturer of hemp-derived ingredients with a dual focus on advancing the scientific research of cannabinoids. He also serves as Chief Science Officer at TreeHouse’s parent company Next Frontier Brands, where he is oversees the intellectual property and R&D pipeline for beverage and natural product innovation. Jake obtained his PhD in Organic Chemistry from Yale University as an NSF Graduate Research Fellow, and his B.S. in Chemistry with Honors from Villanova University. Jake’s research focused on medicinal chemistry and the development of new spectroscopic methods, fields in which he has authored multiple papers.

Description: The USFCA ACS has the great honor of hosting Youngho Seo, PhD to give a talk about his research experience and about the UCSF Masters in Biomedical Imaging Program!
In brief, the program is a 1-year graduate program focusing on Biomedical Imaging (e.g., MRI, CT, PET, SPECT, X-ray, Ultrasound, etc.), and has proven to be a great bridge program for students before they go to medical schools, PhD graduate programs, and industry. Some graduates stay longer within the department (Radiology and Biomedical Imaging within School of Medicine) to continue their research. This is a great opportunity for those graduating within the upcoming year.

Description: Were you ever curious about what your chemistry professors are like outside of the classroom? This is your chance to find out! Feel free to stop by and have ask questions to any of the faculty!
Remarks: An absolutely amazing event and turnout! Students were able to come and bond with their professors. From finding out about experiments exploding in labs, asking to hear chemistry puns that one might ether understand or not, or asking about their star signs-- our professors created a very inclusive and friendly atmosphere.
