Civil engineers are problem solvers who plan, design, construct, and maintain the psychically and naturally built structures that are essential to modern life. Civil engineering can be broken into seven major divisions. This includes structural, environmental, geotechnical, water resources, transportation, construction, and urban planning.

Building Science

Building science incorporates many different fields of science together to understand the physical behavior of a building and how it affects its surroundings. Building scientists are responsible for a building's full life cycle from planning to demolition and deconstruction. Different factors are accounted for to optimize building performance and quality.
